The Issue

I live right next door to a house that has become more than just an eyesore—it's a constant source of worry and distress for me and my family. This decrepit building is completely unlivable. Despite the owners vacating the property permanently, they have left behind countless cats locked in hot cages. I have exhausted all avenues pleading for help from local authorities & received nothing but excuses. I fear these animals won't make it much longer in this heat. It's clear the risk of fire is high, and wild animals, likely carrying rabies, seem to have found refuge. The smell is unbearable, the bugs are relentless, and being in my own yard has become intolerable.

This isn’t just a problem for me; it's a broader safety hazard for the entire neighborhood. Homes in Moro, Illinois, are meant to be safe sanctuaries for families. This house violates that sanctity, posing an immediate threat with potential structural collapse, fire risks, and infestation dangers.

It's clear—this building is unlivable and needs immediate attention from local officials. The solution is actionable and necessary. We need the local government to recognize this situation and use its authority to condemn the property officially.

Once condemned, steps can be taken to safely dismantle the structure, restore the area, and ensure it's no longer a hazard to neighbors. By doing so, we not only improve our neighborhood's safety and aesthetics but also set a precedent for maintaining our community's quality and integrity.

Signing this petition is vital in urging local authorities to act swiftly. My family, your family, and all our neighbors deserve to feel safe and comfortable in our community. Please sign this petition to help transform our neighborhood into a safer place for everyone.
