With the news after the March '24 Budget that the Crown Works Studios complex is to be built on land adjacent to the shipyard in Sunderland, there is the possibility that the 'Pallion Shipyard Studios' may now become a reality too. But the truth of the matter is that no-one yet knows what the future holds for the shipyard, as the Greek owners and city council alike are keeping quiet.

We believe that in light of current global events and the forever highlighted lack of UK shipyard capacity and ship repair facilities, this shipyard must be compulsory purchased by the government to safeguard this incredible asset. It must not allow this act of vandalism towards critical UK infrastructure to take place.

It is now time for the National Shipbuilding Office to take action. Therefore, we trust that the NSO will make the right decision and restore confidence in the UK's ability to become self-sustaining, by compulsory purchasing the Pallion Shipyard in Sunderland.
