We have had two important milestones over the last several weeks - hence the quietness of the updates! Firstly, Don Kane has secured a web domain called "www.ahprainc.org" The proposal is to register this formally as the Australian Health Professionals Reform Association (AHPRA). We are seeking legal advice about Society or Association v Company v Charity. Secondly we had a video conference meeting (via multiple sites) with the USA with the Board of the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons (www.aapsonline.org) at their invitation. They have been aware of sham peer reviews for over three decades and were not surprised that we have remarkably similar patterns seen here in Oz. They are well prepared to resist such shams and have vast resources to combat these and they have offered to support us in this (though not financially). The President has invited our group, AHPRA to join them as an Affliate and we will consider this seriously. This good news together with Jane Thompson's tremendously supportive group will boost the numbers for the petition. The first goal of AHPRA is to secure a Royal Commission and the Committee and volunteers will focus on it. Also in the pipeline is a Facebook page and a website and blog - based offshore and immune from legal attacks by Oz lawyers and politicians! More to come soon!
