Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them

There are times when remaining silent may be easier. But when a serious complaint has been raised, when people have had the courage to come forward, and when questions remain unanswered, silence does not bring healing, accountability or closure.

Our family chose to follow the appropriate process. We raised our complaint concerning Father Samir Haddad parish priest of Melkite Church Fairfield Victoria, with the  Most Reverend Robert Rabbat, Bishop of Melkite Eparch of Australia, New Zealand and All Oceania, provided information in support of our concerns, and participated in the Church’s investigation process in good faith.

What we have continued to ask for is something very simple: a proper response.

We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for transparency, accountability and for those entrusted with positions of authority to listen and respond when serious concerns are brought before them.

Scripture also reminds us:

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…” — Proverbs 31:8

This is why we continue to speak.

Not out of hatred. Not out of revenge. But because silence should never become a substitute for answers.

Our faith teaches us the importance of truth. Our Church should be a place where people feel safe to raise concerns, where complaints are treated seriously, and where those seeking answers are not left indefinitely wondering whether their voices have been heard.

We continue to respectfully call upon the Melkite Church leadership to provide a clear and meaningful response regarding the complaint and the process that followed.

Truth matters. Accountability matters. And those who find the courage to speak deserve to be heard.
