Petition updateCommute the 25 Year Mandatory Minimum Sentence for Michael GilesStill Waiting For Some Good News

Phyllis GilesWinston, GA, United States
Nov 5, 2015
We are still waiting for an update from the court regarding Michael’s 3.850 Hearing. For the time being we are hoping that a new Bill introduced in Florida to amend the Mandatory Minimum Sentencing law is passed. The Bill would create a narrow exception to otherwise applicable mandatory minimum sentences when a court finds a defendant had a good-faith belief that using a firearm was justified. The “Self-Defense Protection Act”, introduced by Republicans Polk City state Rep. Neil Combee and Jacksonville state Sen. Aaron Bean, would reform Florida’s “10-20-Life” sentencing law. Please contact your Florida Representatives to express your support of the Bill.
