Aloha mai kākou,
Our community continues to stand strong in protecting Turtle Bay, iwi kūpuna, endangered species habitat, and the rural character of Koʻolauloa. Developers are pushing forward based on outdated studies, outdated agreements, and insufficient cultural consultation, but our collective voice is making a real impact.
At the recent Commission on Water Resource Management (CWRM) hearing, the commission deferred Turtle Bay’s permit because of data gaps, missing development context, and lack of Ka Paʻakai consultation — a decision made possible because our community showed up.
With this item returning soon (Dec. 16 or later), your voice remains essential.
Below are three powerful ways to support the mission of Kūpaʻa Kuilima right now:
1️⃣ SUBMIT TESTIMONY TO CWRM (Most Urgent)
CWRM commissioners cited serious concerns with the applicant’s reliance on:
• Outdated 2013 SEIS and 2012 CIA
• Missing cultural consultation
• Absence of an adequate Ka Paʻakai analysis
• Incomplete responses to iwi kūpuna concerns
• No full development context
Your testimony ensures that the commission continues to demand transparency, pono process, and real accountability.
✔️ Submit your testimony (see earlier update for details):
