Thank you for starting this petition and for caring about the safety of our students and neighbors. I’ve already had the opportunity to meet with the young people who launched this effort, and I want to commend them for their leadership and advocacy on behalf of the community.

Our office has reached out to the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT), and I’m pleased to share that the DOT has initiated a traffic study in the area identified in the petition. This study will review conditions around the schools and determine the best safety measures to improve pedestrian protection and slow vehicle speeds.

We will continue working closely with the students and the community as this process moves forward to ensure that the area feels safe and secure for everyone.
