Good Afternoon,
We are  writing to follow up on the email sent yesterday, which has grown into a petition now signed (less than 24 hours) by over 250 parents, students, alumni, and community members, calling for a full, independent investigation into serious concerns surrounding leadership at River City High School and within WUSD.
While we appreciate the district’s response through Ms. Shea Borges, we are respectfully declining the invitation for a private meeting. Many families and staff have expressed concerns about retaliation, lack of transparency, and distrust in internal handling of complaints, reportedly made in the office Ms. Borges’ oversees. For this reason, we are  requesting the following:

Formal Requests from the Community:

• This matter be placed on the next WUSD Board of Trustees meeting agenda for discussion and public comment.
• A formal, public written response from the Board or Superintendent acknowledging the petition, the concerns raised, and the next steps by 5/12/2025.
• A full, independent investigation conducted by a third-party agency not affiliated with the district, in which a panel of parents, certificated, and classified staff at RCHS jointly select.

A review of WUSD policies regarding:

• Conflicts of interest between administrators and staff
• Professional boundaries between staff and students
• Retaliation protections for employees and families
• A clear communication plan outlining how the district will update the community on the status and findings of any investigation or inquiry.
• Assurance of protection from retaliation for any student, parent, or staff member who voices concern or provides testimony.

The number of signatures—and the pace at which they continue to grow—reflects widespread concern. These are not isolated complaints; this is a community-driven call for transparency, accountability, and action.

We respectfully request that the district meet this moment with the openness and public integrity our families deserve.
