From the $15 minimum wage to paid sick days; from fairer scheduling rules to equal pay for part-time, contract, and temporary employees; from enforcement to union rights – workers want and deserve better. 

Newfoundland and Labrador has one of the lowest minimum wage rates in Canada, at $11.60 per hour.  Fewer than 6 per cent of Canadians live in jurisdictions with a lower minimum wage.  We call for the province to adopt a $15 per hour minimum wage, in line with other jurisdictions that are moving forward on minimum wages, including Alberta, B.C., and Ontario, representing more than two thirds of Canadians.  A $15 minimum wage will help lift people out of poverty,  reduce inequality and put more money into the local economy beyond the global crisis and into community vitality.
