Save Ezra's Tunnel!

Save Ezra's Tunnel!
The Issue
On November 8th, Ithaca’s Planning Committee voted 3-1 to forward a resolution which proposes to fence off Ezra's tunnel once and for all. According to The Cornell Daily Sun the Common Council is set to vote on the matter on December 6th, at 6 p.m. at City Hall. If passed this would lead to the loss of one of the most beautiful areas within walking distance of Cornell's campus. Instead of educating the student body on the dangers and illegality of swimming in the gorges, or posting responsible signage on site in response to the tragedies that have occurred over the past decade, the city of Ithaca and the Cornell administration have chosen to reduce their liability and cut costs at the expense of public interest. We call on the Common Council and Cornell to make the responsible decision of implementing safety countermeasures in the region without banning us from Ezra's tunnel.
Let the members of the Common Council know what you think! Email or call them at http://www.cityofithaca.org/341/Common-Council
