AEC Update

I contacted the AEC with the contents of this petition when I made the Petition. Further, I called them (Hobart Office, then Canberra Office, then given a special number for the AEC's Admin, where I spoke to 'Val') to make the points in a summarised version. They told me that it won't be investigated until after the writ is returned for the Bennelong By Election (Party Registration Rolls closed until then - despite that they could 'investigate' in the mean time. That they cannot inform me of how long such a review will take, nor the outcome, either it gets deregistered one day or not)... Anyway, I received an Email now from 'Sally': Hi Arjay   Your previous complaint has been referred to our Party Registration area to respond.     In regards to your query blow, the eligibility of candidates is addressed in section 44 of the Constitution. The Attorney General’s Department administers the Constitution and the AEC cannot disqualify a candidate relying on the operation of section 44 of the Constitution. Any disqualification of a candidate due to the operation of section 44 of the Constitution can only be determined by the High Court sitting as the Court of Disputed Returns after an election.             Regards   Sally | Public Engagement Team Education & Communications Branch Australian Electoral Commission Canberra ACT ------ I then responded about the AEC referring it to the High Court, sitting as the Court of Disputed Returns, and/or advising Parliament to. I will contact Parliament (including the Attorney General's Office) today, and some others.
