We're so close. 825 people have already added their name to support the community letter calling for a historical marker to recognize the Kensington Riots of 1844, one of the most pivotal and painful moments in Philadelphia's immigrant history.

We have just one week until the deadline, and need only 175 more signatures to hit our goal of 1,000.

This marker would rightfully acknowledge Philly's Irish immigrant experience, the fight for religious freedom, and the lasting legacy of a neighborhood shaped by both hardship and resilience. It would send a powerful message that this history matters.

Can you help make one final push?

  • Share the petition with your networks: friends, family, neighbors, social media.
  • Talk about it! Remind folks that local history is everyone's story.
  • Sign if you haven't already, and encourage one more person to do the same.

Let's make sure this story is remembered in the place where it happened, with a dedicated historical marker at the scene of the awful outbreak in Kensington.

Thank you for being a part of this effort. We're almost there!

Kevin

P.S. - Every signature counts, but so does every share.  Please pass this on to someone who cares about recognizing this important episode in history.
