Pretium Homes, operated under the name Havenbrook Homes in Columbia Heights, owns 21 properties in the city. In January 2022 Columbia Heights City Council voted to revoke the licenses for two of these 21 properties, that were not up to city code. This invoked the city council to mandate that any property owner with two or more revoked rental licenses should have all their rental licenses immediately revoked. So, on January 18th, Columbia Heights posted revocation notices on the doors of all 21 properties, without inspection except the original 2. The Mayor and 1 City Council Person reached out to affected renters, for which the mayor received backlash from the 3/5ths of the council who have been completely silent on the issue. Pretium Homes, a New York based company, has been working with renters to get their homes repaired and is trying to get the city to reinstate the licenses on individual homes. Columbia Heights did NOT follow their own license revocation process by informing those residents with a vested interest that their rental license may be revoked. The city has been SILENT and has not been willing to speak with it's constituents, the RENTERS throughout the entire process. They have made one statement in 30 of the 45 days they have given us to vacate our homes. In Minnesota. In the Winter. During a Pandemic. Tell them what you think about that.
