Today, the City Council Working session starts at 1pm. Richard Skorman and Kent Obee are speaking against the Broadmoor Land Swap. Additionally, the City-Broadmoor team will be sharing another variation of picnics and ponies! If you can attend to show support, you should. Karen Palus estimates that the Broadmoor Land Swap, item 8F on the agenda, will start around 2:30pm, but that's just an estimate. The meetings are held at City Hall. 107 N Nevada Ave # 300, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. If you cannot attend, you can watch it live at: https://coloradosprings.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx
Closer to the start of the meeting, you will see in the far right column the word "video" appear with a link. That will launch the live stream.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, 4/12/2016, is the City Council meeting where you CAN speak for 3 minutes. The Broadmoor Land Swap is not on the agenda; however, as long as citizens show up by 1pm and sign in, Councilman Bennett will call you to the front to speak on anything you wish for 3 minutes. We believe the Thursday Parks Boards meeting might be more relevant, but many people have asked for the times when the public can address the Council directly.
On Thursday, 4/14/2016, the Park Advisory Board meeting at which the Parks Department is expected to ask the Park Advisory Board to vote to put the Broadmoor Land Swap before City Council to vote which, assuming no changes or delays, is also expected to be done on Tuesday, May 10th. If it follows this path, then the May 10th meeting is VERY IMPORTANT for attendance. It would be the last chance the people get to speak out against the Swap directly to the City Council Members. So, put it on your calendar. The public will get 3 minutes to speak at the Park Advisory Board meeting which begins at 7:30am this Thursday at 1401 Recreation Way. There is no agenda posted yet; so, we cannot share anything beyond that. We will when we see it.
If you have not yet done so, it is important you email the Mayor and ask him to "Stop the Swap". He has the power to stop it and should. There are many emails shared on the previous two posts which you can read for inspiration. Even if it's short....be sure to copy everyone suggested for transparency.
