At Tuesday’s Collingwood FC AGM, President Eddie McGuire attempted to mop up the horrible mess he made just a day prior. Unfortunately his revised comments did nothing to address his and the Club’s refusal to honestly acknowledge its racist past. Here is a summary of McGuire’s claims and where they fell short:

He answered “every question”. In fact he dodged difficult questions or gave vague and often overly-defensive responses that failed to address the issues.
In his “opening” he got it wrong. The opening comments about are day of pride for the Club merely set the tone for an entire hour of getting it wrong. McGuire attempted to reduce this broad failure to just one mistake of wording, which it was certainly not.
Why be “apologetic” but not actually apologise?
Furthermore he is “galvanised” to dismantle racism and will “seek” to make amends. He is free to do both immediately!
