To begin, I want to thank all those who signed and shared this petition. As of today (September 20th), we have 336 signers, 89 shares, and 2,672 views. Thank you all for your support of our cause! With that said, last night, the Athletic Director Huge requested a meeting with a large gathering of the student athletes affected by this policy of "freezing" scholarships. The Director acknowledged that there had indeed been a "hold" on scholarships for athletes, but that hold had been lifted. She apologized for the department's lack of transparency and took full responsibility for the "miscommunication".  We were all able to ask questions and have our concerns heard by Director Huge in person. Primarily, we were told that the athletic department didn't have the funds needed to provide increases in scholarships for returners or create new scholarships for athletic walk-ons. Additionally, Director Huge acknowledged our "frustrations" with the situation. With that said, this petition's main purposes were to create publicity for the lack of transparency in the athletic department, request a "town-hall" in which our questions and concerns could be heard, and create a coalition of people calling for the immediate "repeal" of this policy of freezing athletic scholarships for returning athletes. I am very pleased to announce that all three goals of this petition have been achieved. Our voice has been heard. Once again, thank you all for your support.
