Dr Mahavir Singh Rekhi is a Toronto veterinarian at Skywalk Animal Hospital. He was caught on camera by 4 former employees, abusing his animal patients. There is a very graphic video showing the Dr choking a dog, picking up dogs by their throats, slamming dogs onto the treatment table, punching the animals and even swinging an anaesthetized cat by the tail while purposely hitting the cat into the cupboards. The College of Veterinarians Of Toronto found him guilty but only gave him 10 months suspension with retraining. Furthermore, that suspension could be reduced to 4 months if he completes a series of half-day “mentorship sessions,” and seminars pertaining to the proper handling of animals. This is completely absurd, he needs to have his license revoked so he can no longer do this. A vet is someone you should be able to trust with your pet, he can't be. People in the general community who abuse animals, get charged and jail time. They didn't take an oath, Dr Rekhi did though. An oath to protect and care for animals. If anything, he should be held even more accountable for his actions. If you are an animal lover, I'm sure you are just as disgusted as I am. Help speak out. Help these animals.
