Thanks for helping us get to 20 signatures so far. Let's all please share this as widely as possible across our networks--and especially among Holy Cross networks--to get the thousands of signature we all KNOW this petition can get, and deserves.

The facts are: it's extremely unlikely that Justice Thomas will ever recuse himself from future cases/petitions directly involving his wife's political activities, and SCOTUS judges are not really subject to oversight, removal, or impeachment. So, none of those are the goal of this petition. Instead, it's focused on one very simple (and actionable) idea: HC can rescind its honorary degree on the basis of the fact that Justice Thomas has failed to avoid creating the perception of partiality in the mind of any reasonable observer of the Court. That's all it takes, and that's the only point of this petition. It may be "only" a symbolic gesture, if adopted, but one that would send a clear message to all other jurists to come.
