Randy Moore has been arrested—but the timeline shows why we still need change

I have a major update for everyone who has supported this petition over the last 24 hours. Randy Moore is officially in custody at the Mifflin County Correctional Facility. He has been hit with multiple criminal attempt felonies, including attempted statutory sexual assault.

This is a massive relief for our community, but there is a critical detail about this arrest that everyone needs to know.

While social media is praising the YouTube content creators for "forcing an arrest," the official police report reveals that these creators actually delayed getting him off our streets.

When the police responded to the scene, they legally could not accept edited screenshots or phone snippets on a chaotic street corner—doing so could completely ruin the chain of custody and cause the case to get thrown out by a defense attorney. The officer told the creators to keep the evidence so it could be reviewed properly by prosecutors.

Instead of taking those raw files straight to the police station that same evening, the content creators withheld them. The police and District Attorney were actively trying to get the evidence, but the creators did not hand over the requested chat logs until late the next day.

As a result, a known predator was left walking our streets for an extra 24 hours just so social media footage could be prioritized over police protocol. The second the police finally received the unedited files, they acted immediately, interviewed the suspect, got a full confession, and locked him up.

I am not trying to discredit the fact that he was caught, but delaying raw evidence leaves children at risk. Our local police and DA did their jobs the right way to ensure these charges actually stick in court.

An arrest under "criminal attempt" is a great workaround for this specific case, but it doesn't change the fact that Pennsylvania’s underlying loophole (18 Pa.C.S. § 6318) is still wide open. We need to keep pushing, keep sharing, and close this gap for good so our law enforcement has the direct tools they need from day one.
