Bring back Westbourne's buses

Bus services have been dramatically reduced in Westbourne due to cuts in national funding, resulting in the recent withdrawal of the services previously provided by Emsworth and District - a privately owned local company.
The number 54 bus - which links Westbourne to Chichester and surrounding villages - is being funded temporarily for a year by the County Council through a contract with Stagecoach. However, it is running at a much reduced timetable. The former 28 bus to Havant and surrounding areas no longer runs. These changes have left many in Westbourne feeling isolated and unable to access essential local services and facilities.
Cllr Richard Hitchcock, Chair of the Parish Council, said: “Residents in Westbourne are rightly concerned about the reduction of our buses. They provide a vital service for many younger and older people who do not have access to a car and rely on public transport for work and access to shops or health services. It is essential that Westbourne as a rural community supports its residents with good transport links.
“Please sign this petition to make the County Council aware of our concerns, including the fact that the 54 bus now runs at limited times and there is no bus to Havant, and encourage them to put an improved service in place."
