Fantastic support for Norm last night and summary of meeting!

Norms position now has to go to a personnel sub committee, and an internal investigation is still ongoing. Norm has been called in to receive the result of his meeting of the 19th September at another meeting tomorrow. The personnel committee have to report back at the October meeting. Let's hope common sense prevails tomorrow and the meeting is deferred. The council have put out a statement that was read out last night you can see their fb and website page for the details... Last night the Clerk to the Council assured us that the council were in full support of their employees and that included Norman - She informed us that they fully respect him and his dignity and privacy ... Obviously that has been made clear by posting the statement on their web page .. and posting it before Norm or Lou knew about its posting. So much for duty of care to all staff.! It was also highlighted last night that the council had contacted the DBS (the criminal records check ppl) and wanted added to Norms file that he was a risk to children and vulnerable adults ... this was met with gasps of horror from the crowd. The counsellors were repeatedly asked to show their support of Norm by a show of hands and the first time asked 2 raised their hands but the rest sat quietly and refused to answer the question. It was another tense council meeting that basically resulted in them refusing to answer any of the public questions in relation to Norm under the pretence of protecting him and his family - namely Lou who was at the meeting ... It was raised why Lou was at the meeting and how her feelings hadnt been taken into consideration when she was summonsed to attend via an email .. The Clerk attempted to get Lou to say why she was there (ie defending The Clerks email) but Lou did not and placed a copy of the email with the words "hearby summonsed" on the desk of the counsillors and left the meeting .. She should not have been there in the first place ! We await Norms fate at tomorrows meeting ... Rest assured what ever the outcome of the meeting for Norm tomorrow this will not be over - our support and fight to have him reinstated in Community Safety Role will continue ! Thank you so much to all of you who gave up time to attend and show your support and ask questions and speak out ... Your support means so much to Norm and his family x x x If you as a member of the public want Norm out and about in the community, you need to show your support. If you haven't signed the petition, now is your chance. If you have signed it, but still want to show more support, write to you parish Councillor, he/she is there because we put them there. Thank you so much all of you for your continued support x
