On 7/11/22, attorneys filed their opposition to the state requesting to set an execution date for Kevin Johnson. Including in the filing was a letter from the St. Louis County Conviction and Incident Review Unit (CIRU), asking the "court to refrain" from setting an execution date for Kevin Johnson.

This is the first time that the St. Louis County CIRU has used such legal measures for someone living under a death sentence. 

No one should be executed when there are unanswered questions about the integrity of a conviction. Like many, we are waiting to learn more of this news and will be updating you as we can.
