Clean Water, Not Resilience: A Call for Action in Cagayan de Oro
The Issue

For a long time, residents in our community in Cagayan de Oro City have experienced visibly dirty water containing sediments and particles. As shown in the attached photos, the amount of dirt can be significant enough that residents use cloth to catch the particles before the water is used.
A cloth may catch visible dirt, but it is not a substitute for proper water filtration or water-quality testing. This situation is especially concerning when the water is being used for washing dishes, bathing, cleaning, and other daily household needs.
Residents have reportedly raised this concern to the water district, yet the problem has continued for a long time. People should not have to simply remain “resilient” and find temporary ways to cope with a recurring water-quality concern.
What We Are Asking For
We are calling for the responsible water authorities to:
- Investigate the source of the recurring sediments and discoloration.
- Conduct appropriate water-quality testing and make the results accessible to affected residents.
- Provide a clear explanation and update regarding the cause of the problem.
- Take corrective action to address the recurring issue.
- Establish a clear and accessible way for residents to report and follow up on water-quality complaints.
Why Your Signature Matters
Clean and reliable water is an essential part of everyday life. This petition is not about blaming anyone—it is about asking for answers, transparency, and meaningful action.
We have adapted for long enough. Now, we are asking for action.
👉 Sign this petition if you believe Cagayan de Oro residents deserve water they can confidently use in their homes.
Important: The photos show visible particles/sediment, but they do not by themselves establish whether the water is microbiologically or chemically unsafe. Proper testing is needed to determine the water's quality and possible health risks.
