Stop the rock armour & provide safe access at Lahinch Beach

The Issue

The current works on the Lahinch prom are putting individuals at risk for severe injury, even death. Safe & unrestricted access to the water at Lahinch Beach is legally required for all. Unless the rock armour terminates at the very latest halfway along the main section of the concrete sea wall, you, Clare County Council, are placing water users at significant risk – there will be injuries if not worse. The short section that is currently being allowed is not enough and is not safe.

The works need to stop at Ch 290 if there is any chance of being safe. We ask for you to immediately cease work on the Lahinch promenade until a safe proposal is agreed upon by representatives of the West Coast Surf Club & Lahinch chapter of the Surfrider Foundation- Europe. Thank you.
