AHOY there!

NHS workers are taking to the river Thames on the 26th of November at 12.30 to show this government that we outright reject the 3% pay offer.

Frontline NHS workers have hired a boat to take us as close to the house of commons as possible. We will be making our voices heard using our on board PA system, megaphones, and using banners/placards. Whilst we embark to ‘destination’ our colleges, supporters and union officials will be holding a demonstration on Westminster bridge and have some creative tricks up their sleeves. The demonstration will end at 13.45, we will then be heading to old palace for 2pm where we will hold a rally and have a great set of speakers lined up.

We will be letting this government now this offer is an insult to all those NHS workers who have fought so hard to protect the public over recent months and continue to do so day in, day out. We are doing this to save our patients, our colleagues, our profession, our institution - NHS SOS

An entry level nurse has lost 20% of their pay in real terms since 2010. Over the same period 140,000 nurses have left the profession. This is due to poor working conditions, overwork and poor pay. There situation is set to significantly worse as more than 70,000 unvaccinated NHS staff will need to get the jab or risk losing their job after the government announced Covid-19 jabs would be compulsory for NHS England workers. We are now in a national crisis with lack of beds, funding and resources. If these issues are not addressed and the NHS made an attractive option as a career, then those numbers will continue to rise and this can only lead to falling standards of care. This will have an impact on everyone in the country.

Anger has reached new heights within the NHS and that the calls for strike action for pay equality are getting louder and louder. We in NHS Workers Say No! say “15% pay rise now, not a penny less!”
