JUSTICE FOR BLOSSOM
The Issue
Blossom the mastiff / Great Dane was a rescue dog rehomed to her owners when she was just over 9 months old she was a beloved family pet that went missing from her home in Waltham Abbey on 2nd January, after seven days with the dog warden at Hackney Council she was relinquished to BATTERSEA DOGS & CATS HOME.
- Battersea had Blossom in their care for less than 14 days and they decided upon a medical assessment that her elbow had arthritis and put her down on the 26th January 2017 (24 days after she went missing) without any follow up with microchip scanning or posting on relevant forums such as doglost or their own website which could Of potentially of reached a massive audience given how large their organisation is.
Blossom is now dead because BATTERSEA didn't scan for a microchip and decided her medically unfit and put her to sleep .
The average Assessment period for stray dogs is 4 weeks and they say that they will help any dog given to their care . Blossom met an untimely death due to BATTERSEA , she was only four years old and her owners are absolutely devavated not more could of been done to treat her and get her back to her rightful owners.
Blossom's owner want Battersea medical report and x rays that prove that she was declared unfit and what could of been done instead of putting blossom to sleep.
Blossom's owner would like to make it law so that when dogs come into their care via local pounds and dog warden to make sure they scan for a chip so this doesn't happen to any other well loved missing pets across the UK.
- Battersea is a charitable organisation that relies on the publics support and donations. They have let the public and Blossoms owners down. They should of done more to let local dog wardens , missing dog websites such as dog lost so Blossom could of been retrieved sooner. Their website claims that they do their upmost to reunited dogs back to their owners - this wasn't the case for blossom.
BLOSSOM was NOT an unwanted stray dog she was well loved pet that has left a hole in our hearts.
RIP BLOSSOM
