We have sent the following email to Ald Xanthea Limberg:
Dear Ald. Limberg
1. In your email of 27 May 2021 you said that we would be invited to the opening of the new pump station due to be inaugurated by the end of June. It is now the 13 July. Has the official opening happened? Is the pump station now operational? Or has there been some delay?
2. We note that it is five months to the promised delivery of the new weedharvester due in December 2021. We did ask for the name of the firm which got the successful tender. Would it be possible to visit the factory or workshop where it is being built to see how it is progressing?
3. The Zandvlei has been closed for recreation for over 6 weeks. According to information that has been made public, this is on account of excessive e.coli levels, although no actual figures have been released. We are very concerned: the combination of the recent high rainfall and the fact that the mouth has been open all this time should mean the vlei has been washed clean. Yet the persistent excessive e.coli levels point to a continuing sewage flow into the vlei. Has the cause been identified? Has the source of the leak been found?
4. According to the Z.E.M.P. the new weedharvester should operate fulltime. Can you assure us that the operating budget given to the Zandvlei management will reflect this?
We look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
