FAIRNESS 4 SIBLINGS

Many children can no longer join their brothers and sisters at primary school. The City of York Council do not have an admissions criteria for an all siblings priority. They say the criteria is fair, reasonable and a method of resolving competing oversubscriptions, how can this be fair if it breaks up families by prioritising distance over existing family ties to the school causing stress to the siblings concerned and causing logistical financial hardships to hard working families.
" AN OVER SUBSCRIPTIONS CRITERIA GIVING SIBLINGS PRIORITY TO ATTEND THE SAME SCHOOL, IF THAT IS WHAT THEIR PARENTS WISH, SEEMS INSTINCTIVELY TO BE A SENSIBLE APPROACH,PARTICULARLY AT PRIMARY SCHOOL" OFFICE OF THE SCHOOLS ADJUDICATOR-2015
These are 4 year old children just about to start one of the most important daunting years of their lives starting school and need to attend the same school as their siblings who will help and support them.....WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
We are asking the council to adapt an all siblings priority as part of there admissions arrangements with the intention of having it as a proposal for the 2019 consultation in admission arrangements. 51% of other authorities already currently have this in place.
IF YOU BELIEVE SIBLINGS SHOULD BE TOGETHER ..PLEASE HELP BY SIGNING THE PETITION TODAY!
