First a big THANK YOU!
Two weeks ago, many of you sent letters to the city regarding Building By-law Changes for Zero Emissions. Your efforts resulted in Council voting unanimously for an amendment proposed by Clr. Hardwick to consult on how the bylaw changes will be applied to heritage and character buildings. We will keep you updated as this evolves.
Council This Week
There are a number of important issues coming to council this week for Tuesday May 12 at 9:30 am. Unfortunately, the agenda is always posted late the week before and leaves little time to respond. Especially over a sunny Mothers' Day weekend.
There are three important issues to respond to as outlined below, with the most important the first listed.
Motion 7. Recalibrating the Housing Vancouver Strategy post COVID-19
Clr. Hardwick is requesting through this motion to realign the housing targets to meet actual growth requirements based on census and to provide the related data and information transparently to the public. Continuing policy that promotes unnecessary growth is what has been driving the unsustainable demolition and new construction way beyond what is needed.
