Build a statue of Robin Williams

The Issue

As one of the successful comedians of all time and a native of the Bay Area a statue to Williams would be a commeration to his impact on our culture and lives. It could also be a symbol for the need to improve mental healthcare and a proud reminder of the potential of people who suffer from depression to succeed as well as recognizing the need to reach out to those who suffer from said disease. We lost a great and kind man  and extending his legacy indefinitely by erecting a statue and plaque in memorium in Union Square could help us appreciate his prodigious talent as well as understand the complexity and severity of his affliction. It would be a beacon of hope for the millions of Americans sufferring from depression. Maybe in his Teddy Roosevelt costume, sword drawn and charging down his demons. Or as a genie, kind and caring in the face of personal pain. Or in a casual Hawaiin shirt, trying to be a good father and businessman while driving an RV. He was all of the things we aspire to be. He made us laugh, made us happy, even when he couldn't find happiness himself.
