It came to my attention on the news the planned changes to the Rockingham foreshore, which to my astonishment, include removing the most important car park in the area, on Flinders Lane, right in the middle of the Churchill and Bell parks. I am not sure if you have any idea of how many divers use that car park everyday, but I can assure you, it's a lot of people! The closeness to the dive trail makes it the perfect spot to gear up, have a short walk and jump into the water. There are also disabled divers who benefit hugely with the proximity of the car park to the dive site. These people will clearly be the worst off if they have to cross long distances to get to the water. Removing this important area will make our lives a lot harder to carry our dive gear. There are plenty of spaces around to be used for the planned water playground, so we strongly oppose to the removal of such an important car park for the divers.
