BREAKING: Richmond City Council voted 6 to 3 in favour of limiting house sizes to 400 m2 on the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) in Richmond, B.C. Mayor Brodie and Councillors Loo and McPhail opposed. KUDOS to those councillors who voted in favour of this reduction, and for doing the right thing. Future generations will thank you for preserving our farmland. With climate change, food sovereignty will become increasingly important.
Also, THANK YOU to the 8,000 individuals who signed the petition to limit house sizes on the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) in Richmond, B.C., that I launched a year ago. Your support was instrumental in bringing this issue to the forefront in our community thereby ensuring that ALL farmland is protected from non-farming development, and securing our food sources for future generations.
