Kids Before Cars - Greenfield Students Need a Crosswalk at 23rd and Sansom!

The Issue

Every day, hundreds of Greenfield students use our streets to walk to and from school. On that walk, many students and their families regularly cross the intersection of 23rd Street and Sansom Street.

During the morning drop off and afternoon pick up, this intersection is used extensively by students coming to and leaving from school. Because there is no crosswalk, students have to wait until a driver is nice enough to stop her car. Otherwise, they have to wade through moving traffic.

In the past, the City has refused to install a crosswalk at this intersection because of the belief a crosswalk would back up traffic at the intersection of 23rd and Chestnut Streets.

By signing this petition, let's make clear that our children's safety should always take priority over the "needs" of impatient drivers.
