Get Nanaimo an Indoor Skatepark

Nanaimo has a bigger skateboarding community than most people know. This includes people ranging from 5-50 years of age! Skateboarding is a great form of exercise, a form of creativity, and a fun activity for a wide range of people. It is a great way to make friends and also creates a sense of community with older skaters often helping and mentoring the younger guys and gals. A lot of the time with the rain here people are unable to utilize our outdoor parks and would have to drive down to The Linc Courtenay for the nearest indoor park. The Linc thrives in a smaller community than Nanaimo and is busy most of the time, a similar indoor facility would get even more use in Nanaimo and would attract people from all over the island. Please sign and show the City of Nanaimo and Nanaimo Parks and Recreation that there is a demand for this!
A good proposed location is some of the gymnasiums of schools like Dufferin and Woodlands that have closed down and are now just empty, unused buildings. These gyms have a lot of space for the ramps and make sense because they are already built. All that would be needed is ramps, ledges, and rails to be added to the inside.
