The citizens of the Skyline Community in Mobile, Al would like to petition the City of Mobile to Clean up the Crest Motel.
The Crest Motel located at 4421 Government Blvd, Mobile, AL 36693 has become a major eye sore for our community. It is in complete disrepair, unsafe, a haven for criminal activity, illegal drugs, prostitution, and sex offenders.
The owner of The Crest Harshadbhai Patel was arrested October 23, 2013, for trafficking illegal drugs and subsequently sentenced to 48 months in federal prison and serve three years of supervised release.
At this time according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, there are currently 5 convicted sex offenders living at the Crest. The offenses range from child sex offenses to rape.
Many of the communities in the area of the Crest Motel have attempted to have something done, this includes Crestview Community Action Group (CCAG), Southern Skyline Community Group (SSCG) along with many other individuals. Our Councilman John Williams fought long and hard to have the derelict Diva's taken down and cleaned up. We do not expect Councilman Williams to take on this task alone, we need our community to fight with and for him. We want the existing departments with the City of Mobile to enforce their codes and put pressure on moving the criminal element out.
As a major thoroughfare for the City of Mobile, we would like to see the Skyline area rebuild itself into what it once was in the past. In the past, Skyline was a well sought out, beautiful area that was representative of downtown Mobile. Because of the lack of support from the community, it has deteriorated greatly and we would like to see Skyline become the beautiful gateway to the downtown area that is used to be.
It is time for us to remove/repair blight and run down areas before the Skyline area disappears.
