Thank you to everyone who has signed our Petition.  As of April 27th, we have received 570 signatures and more than 40 comments.

Our actions are being noticed and we are making a difference.  Today, we met with 3 members of the City Planning Department for more than one hour. It was a very amiable and positive meeting.

We had the opportunity to share everyone’s concerns regarding this project, with a heavy focus on the deviations already identified in relation to the OCP 2040 guidelines and concepts.  The Planning Department provided us with information regarding the Development Application process, their involvement with the Developer and their recommendations to City Council with regards to approving or dis-approving the application.  It’s our belief that the City Planning staff felt we had “made a case” to effect some changes to the application.  All of your comments received from the petition also were shared at the meeting.

The City Planning representatives were very thankful for our input, and the timing could not have been better.  Monday (25th), Kelowna City Council approved the rezoning of the Waterscapes II property from RM6 to C7 which triggered a larger involvement by the City Planning Department who will, over the next few months perform an in-depth review of the proposal and may challenge the developer regarding their non-compliance with the OCP 2040.  We were advised that the Public Hearing will most likely take place in September or October of 2022, however we will continue monitoring this development and will post updates when relevant.

Please keep sharing this petition with concerned Kelowna residents that you know as we hope to keep the momentum moving throughout the summer and collect even more signatures.  We’d really like to reach 1,000!
