Hi Everybody,

Ice Hockey WA has been busy behind the scenes pushing for a new ice arena. No doubt you will have seen one of our members having an interview on the ABC Radio and Facebook page, We encourage you to continue getting the word out that we need a new ice sports facility.

We have also been busy talking to state and Federal MP’s about the need for a new ice arena.

To help push a new ice sports facility, here is 3 things you can do to help push the opportunity for a new ice sports facility:

1. Meet your local MP (especially if you live in the state seat of Hillary’s or Joondalup) or in the federal seat of Moore. If you live in the following suburb's: Burns Beach, Connolly, Craigie, Currumbine, Duncraig, Edgewater, Heathridge, Hillarys, Iluka, Joondalup, Kallaroo, Kingsley, Kinross, Marmion, Mullaloo, Ocean Reef, Padbury, Sorrento and Woodvale you live in the Federal Seat of Moore.

2. Keep pushing our petition, we are 8,000 signatures short of our current goal (10,000 signatures)

3. Come to see the Western Australian Para Ice Hockey League (WAPIHL) Finals on August the 29th puck drop at 11:45 (so it’s better to be there at 11:30 to get a park/find a seat) at Cockburn Ice Arena. There will be at least 4 State and Federal MP’s including the Minister for sports the honourable Dr Tony Buti, and the Federal MP Josh Wilson (member for Fremantle) there are discussions with number of media groups including TV stations to cover the finals.

Having a full capacity crowd that is loud and passionate for para ice hockey (and all other ice sports) will help back up the message that a new ice sports facility is sorely needed to the MP’s who are in attendance, Especially with a federal election happening next year.
