The Issue

For over 15 years, the fruit and vegetable vendors at Pennywise Shopping Centre in Eastlea have fed our community. They are not illegal vendors. They have been paying their rates and licenses to the City of Harare faithfully every year.
Now they are being chased away with no proper alternative structures provided to continue supporting their families.
These are mothers and fathers, our neighbours. They provide fresh, affordable food within walking distance for the elderly, for working parents, for everyone in Eastlea. Removing them without a plan destroys livelihoods and punishes people who followed the law.
We are not against order in our city. We WANT order — proper, clean, dignified vending stalls at Pennywise.
We ask the City of Harare to:
1. Stop the eviction of licensed vendors at Pennywise Eastlea
 2. Provide proper vending structures/stalls at or near Pennywise
3. Recognise their 15+ years of payment and renew their licenses
4. Consult with the vendors and community before any decision
Please sign and share to support our vendors. They supported us for 15 years — now we support them.
