According to the latest U.S. Census estimate, Fairhope's population has grown an unprecedented 44% from 2010 to 2018.  There is every reason to believe that the 2020 Census will put us at 50% growth since 2010. This growth, unmanaged, threatens the quality of life that we value and love about our community.  And because of that, we believe citizens should have the opportunity to give input to plans for the use of City assets before decisions are made that will affect the future makeup of the City. A land use study, a strategic comprehensive plan that will guide us through this growth with a vision for our land use should be in place before decisions are made on any assets like the K-1 Center and The Triangle property. Citizens want the opportunity to weigh in on what Fairhope is to become in light of our growth and the challenges it presents.  We understand there is funding coming in for a land use plan. We the Citizens of Fairhope request that our elected officials wait to develop that plan to manage and guide the City's path today, tomorrow and for generations to come.  We request that we be included in the discussions that will determine our future.
