Let's make Edmonton more accessible!

The Issue

The city of Edmonton is not an easy place for people in wheelchairs. For an able-bodied person, the journey from my apartment building to the closest grocery store is a short, 5-minute walk. For me, that same journey takes over 20 minutes. I am forced to wheel around huge speed bumps, large cracks in the sidewalk, numerous potholes and other obstacles. There have been many times where I have fallen out of my chair after getting my wheel snagged in a crack in the sidewalk.

These problems do not only affect me, they also impact the elderly, people with walkers, parents pushing baby strollers, children on bicycles and so many others.

The city of Edmonton's sidewalks are a dangerous place for people who use wheels, and it's time for change. This petition is to demonstrate to the city of Edmonton that the people of Edmonton demand safe, accessible sidewalks, intersections and other pedestrian infrastructure.
