Hello, I am sorry to nag, but only 5 of you have written to the Parliamentary Edinburgh Central candidates. They can ignore 5. They can’t ignore hundreds. And there are 3000 of you who have signed. Please don’t think someone else will do it. No-one is doing it. If you want to stop the track, you need to act. If you can’t remember what this is all about, please look at the last update I sent you 2 days ago on the 27th April. I’ve made it easy for you: just copy and paste the text at the end of this e-mail and send it to the candidates. And I want to say a very big thanks to John, Harvey, Helen, Elaine and Bryan for taking the trouble to write to the hopefulls. (And yes- I know it’s Ruth Davidson, not Ferguson. I drafted that at 2am, so forgive the error.) Best Pete Gregson To alison.dickie@edinburghsnp.org ; ruth.davidson@scottishconservatives.com ; sarahboyack@gmail.com ; alison.johnstone@scottishgreens.org.uk ; hannah.bettsworth@scotlibdems.org.uk … and please copy me in: postmaster@roseburn32.plus.com . Dear Candidate, If you want my vote you must sign the petition against the cycle track. So far, only Hannah Bettsworth has published election literature saying she opposes the track. The rest of you have been sitting on your hands. There are over 3,000 people who have signed the petition and soon they will know your position on this. If you don’t want the Lib Dems to take their votes you need to act now. So please, get off the fence. This track is taking £0.5M of taxpayers cash from the Scottish Government through Sustrans. If you get into Government, will you condone throwing £500,000 of our money at a track that nobody wants? There is another £0.5M coming from the Council that will come from our rates, but you can do nothing about that. However, if Sustrans withdraw the Government's £0.5M then the whole scheme will fail, so you’ll be doing ratepayers a favour too. We need it to fail, because there is already a perfectly good alternative, the National Cycle Route 1, which runs at Sustrans' back door. Sustrans are being greedy because they want another cycle track at their front door too. They refuse to meet us to address our concerns- last week they pulled out of our meeting at the last minute, because they have no alternatives to offer. They are committed to throwing away taxpayers cash and only you can stop them. If you get into office, that is. And you will not get into office without our votes. We are 3,200 strong. Act now. There will be a press release on Monday at 6pm going out indicating which Edinburgh Central candidates actually really CARE about Roseburn, Wester Coates, Donaldsons and Haymarket shop-keepers and residents. If you want your name on that release, please sign by then. To sign, and learn more, go to the petition at https://www.change.org/p/city-of-edinburgh-council-petition-against-the-west-coates-cycle-track-in-favour-of-national-cycle-route-1-re-opened . If you sign, please tell me by hitting “reply all” - then all your competitors will know you care more about your voters than they do. Thanks
