Permanently bring back the Arroyo Park ziplines

The Issue

Dear City of Davis Parks and Community Services and City Council,

On May 20, 2019, the two zip lines at Arroyo Park were removed due to a handful of complaints from neighbors that the equipment was too loud.

The City of Davis and the Parks and Community Services department did a great job over the past year and a half soliciting community opinions and concerns about the Arroyo Park updates.  Many of us filled out surveys and read the City Council agendas that discussed park improvements.  Additionally, the final design plans for Arroyo Park were posted on site at the park for about a month before construction began.  If other neighbors had concerns about the equipment and potential for disruption to their lives – this was the time to voice those concerns.  Not after it was installed.

This one piece of park equipment appears to have cost City of Davis taxpayers at least $20,000 but possibly up to $25,000 (see https://www.gametime.com/products/playground-equipment/zip-lines for purchase price, plus labor, demolition and removal of park trees, concrete work to lay foundation, and new bark).  Removal without the recognition of the value this park brings to our neighborhood and community is a waste of money and critical resources.

Please PERMANENTLY BRING BACK THE ARROYO PARK ZIPLINES!
