The City of Brooklet is refusing to alter their route for spraying the mosquito-killing fog on the side street that runs past our house. While this fog is supposed to target mosquitos and other harmful pests, it is also detrimental to the bee population.

     We have 8 hives in our backyard, plus an additional 8 in the small field 2 houses down. These bees pollinate the entire neighborhood, as well as the nearby cotton fields, and make some of the most delicious honey you will ever taste! In a time where bees are being targeted by vandals and entire apiaries have been destroyed or even burned, it is imperative that we protect these hardworking, essential members of the ecosystem. We are only asking that they not spray directly in front of our hives (roughly a 50 yard stretch of road), not to stop spraying the entire city.
