Include e-cigarettes and vaping in smoker laws (Austin, TX)
The Issue
We have a right to clean air in workplaces, restaurants, bars, and all indoor facilities. e-Cigs and Vaporizers diminish our freedom to avoid the toxic chemicals of nicotine and propylene glycol. The current smokefree laws have been undermined and subverted by changing habits and times. The language of our smokefree laws needs to be updated to reflect our changing times.
Please sign my petition urging that e-Cigs and Vaporizers be added to our smokefree laws to Keep Austin Beautiful.
“Nicotine is a teratogen (capable of causing birth defects).”1
"According to a 2010 study by Karlstad University, the concentrations of PGEs (counted as the sum of propylene glycol and glycol ethers) in indoor air, particularly bedroom air, has been linked to increased risk of developing numerous respiratory and immune disorders in children, including asthma, hay fever, eczema, and allergies, with increased risk ranging from 50% to 180%.”2
Right now, our smoke-free law language does not include e-cigs and vaping. 3
Nicotine is highly addictive.4
