We, the undersigned residents of the OWS Historic District & surrounding neighborhoods (S. Seventh/Madison Streets) call on the City of Ann Arbor to incorporate speed calming initiatives which address thoroughly documented (see SOS site), unsafe speeds, unsafe pedestrian environment, aggressive driving environment, and high speed crashes which threaten the health and safety of local residents, children, students, pedestrians, and drivers. Speed calming initiatives (e.g., reduced speed limit, speed bumps, 3-way stop, lane narrowing, etc) are critical to the prevention of injury and/or loss of life on our neighborhood/residential streets that are dangerously operating as highways...for which they were never designed.
