Give the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church a new address.

The Issue

The Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church is located at 110 Calhoun Street.

Sen. John C. Calhoun stood on the floor of the U.S. Senate and declared "Slavery is a positive good" on February 6, 1837.

178 years, 4 months, 12 days later, on June 17, 2015 Rev. Clementa Pinckney was shot and killed with 8 other members of his Bible study group.

I suggest that the name be changed to Pinckney Street, in honor of the late Reverend of the church, who died bringing his community together. The Emanuel AME Church would therefore benefit from a new address: 110 Pinckney Street.
