Oppose Mountain Island Rezoning Petition 2017-184

The Issue

Zoning Petition 2017-184 will negatively affect the citizens of NW Charlotte because the area infrastructure, mainly roads and schools, cannot support more development.

We, residents, are suffering today because area roads are seriously clogged and the schools are at 171% of their capacity.  New developments could add up to 200 more students to these already-crowded schools.

Additionally, the request for Conventional Rezoning (Vs, Conditional Rezoning) provides no guarantees to area residents as to what will exactly be done on this site.

To support current and future development in NW Charlotte, a strategic plan must first be developed and money committed to improve and expand roads and schools. City Council should also severely limit the conditions under which Conventional Rezoning is allowed. In the near term, city council should deny this petition.
