City Airport is taking the Mayor of London to a public inquiry in March after the Mayor blocked City Airport's expansion plan (after Newham council waived it through). London City Airport wants to increase its terminal facilities in order to be able to operate 120,000 flights per year - that’s 44,000 more a year than currently. If this should go ahead, well over 70,000 people will be impacted by City Airport. These flights will run on the concentrated flight paths recently introduced causing even more misery to those of us who are already under the affected routes. The campaign group HACAN East will be attending the inquiry as a Rule 6 party, supporting the Mayor of London’s ruling to reject expansion. They will be giving evidence showing how East London will not benefit from the increased noise and pollution that 44,000 extra flights would bring, not to mention the increased traffic associated with a larger airport. HACAN is having to take on City Airport who are expected to have a strong legal presence. Any help you can give – either with a small donation or in kind (perhaps if you have a legal background and would like to help out) – would be much appreciated. How much you take on is entirely up to you. The public inquiry begins on 15th March, if you are able to help out, wish to provide a donation (or just want to find out more) please send a message to this address info@hacaneast.org.uk Thank you for your continued support Adam & Eleanor P.S Remember you can follow HACAN East using any of the methods below: Twitter: @HACANEast Instagram: hacan.east Facebook: HACAN East Email: info@hacaneast.org.uk www.hacaneast.org.uk
