As of today, January 26 2015, the processing time for Stage 1 Approval (AIP) for Inland spousal sponsorship is 17 months, combined with 8 months required for Stage 2, making the process 25 months wait for the foreign sponsored spouses to receive permanent residency. The processing time has tripled from 6 months to almost 18 months today in just about a year and is growing further every week. No explanation from CIC has been given to the public and the media. An audit request has been submitted to the Auditor General of Canada.
We will continue to monitor the progress and make adequate arrangements with national media outlets to cover the story of Inland backlog, as well as pursue different lobbying channels, until Citizenship & Immigration Canada begins working on the Inland spousal sponsorship backlog at a reasonable pace.
