The local police here in Henderson County NC have been abusing their power for a long time. It is getting to the point where innocent lives are taken daily,  by our law enforcement officers. 

 A police officer is one of those careers that many children look up to and want to become when they grow up. The future is made up of these children and our job  (every day people) is to teach these children right and wrong and how to be decent human beings. Police men are supposed to be caring, compassionate,  and protect their communities from harm. But how can they if they are the ones causing it? 

As a resident of Henderson County NC over the past thirteen years, I have seen just how dirty these officers are. They lie, cheat, and steal just like criminals do. The problem is they do these things and then hide behind their badges and act as though nothing ever happened. In my opinion they are WORSE than a lot of our common criminals.

I have kept my mouth shit for way too long with these matters. We as a society have slowly let them become this way over time because we are so afraid to stand up for what we believe in. Well I dont know about you but I'm sick of it.   The most recent and most unfortunate event in my life that has caused me to start this petition happened just the other day to a near and dear friend of mine. We will call him Bob for now. He is one of the nicest and most generous of people I've ever encountered in my last 12 years here. Hes a bachelor who lives in Zirconia with his two dogs. I brought my puppy over to play with his dogs pretty often. I remember our conversation last week about how much he loves and appreciates his dogs because he is  alone there and they keep him safe. Then he started telling me stories about the Male dog and how he had saved Bobs life on more than one occasion. The male dog has been known to protect women and children and stop tragedies from happening before we even know what hit us. So the evening before last the Henderson County Police Department showed up to a "domestic disturbance" at his home. A girl friend got angry with him for asking her to leave and called 911 saying he had put his hands on her even though he hadn't. She has done this before. As they entered the yard, Both dogs trotted towards the officers and barking as they were protecting their jome from strangers. Before my friend could get down his porch steps to tell the dogs it was ok, one of the officers shot and killed the male dog. The officer that shot the dog was so proud of himself and was bragging to the others about how great of a shot that was hitting the dog in between the eyes. All of this was being said right in front of my grief-stricken friend who was holding his pet in his arms so he wouldn't choke on the blood hoping he would keep him alive long enough to get him to the vet. Bob  begged and pleaded with the men to help him get the dog to the vet and they just stood there laughing. Finally he convinced one of them to do something about it and Bob and his pet were rushed to the emergency vet. The dog made it there still alive and Bob asked the vet to save his dogs life and at this moment it was possible. By the time the vet agreed to help it was too late and his best friend was dead.

Not one single officer apologized for killing the harmless and loving pet. Not one. And this is not the first time the police have done this. Over the past few months I have heard them killing people.dogs for no reason. These men are armed with tasers and night sticks! They should not be afraid of a dog and if they are they definitely need to find a different occupation!  These men abuse their power and do not care about the citizens here or their communities. All they care about is money (obtained crookedly of course) and power. They harass innocent people here every day and if we dont do something about it now the future of this entire world will not be bright and promising. These men do anything and everything they want just as much as criminals do but they hide behind a badge and everyone thinks it's ok. What exactly is that teaching our children???? Henderson county police are a joke and they should We have to hold these men accountable for their actions, just like you and I . They should be ashamed of themselves acting like a bunch of high schools bullies and ruining lives without batting an eye! Is this what we want our children to learn and become???
